Frost Tolerance: In the coldest parts of the distribution areas, the foliage disappears in winter

Heat Tolerance: Regular water in the hottest areas

Sun Exposure: Full sun to light shade

Origin: Western USA, northwestern Mexico, at medium to high elevation

Growth Habits: Evergreen to deciduous perennial, up to 10 inches tall (25 cm) 2 feet in diameter (60 cm);

Watering Needs: Little to moderate water when established

Propagation: Seeds, divisions

Blooming Habits:
Fragrant white flowers, 3 inches in diameter (7.5 cm), opening in the evening, lasting only until the following morning, from mid spring to late summer.
